Open Source Intelligence/OSINT

The overlapping of the intelligence activity with both the significant deterioration of the regional security climate and the technological progresses which generated an exponential growth in the quantity and quality of information in all online communication environments, highlights three specific traits of the OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) tradecraft, which influences the achievement of national security objectives: volume, variety and processing speed, analysis.

In a digital world which expands at an unprecedented pace with the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning based technologies, through OSINT (which implies identifying, collecting and evaluating the information from open sources, either public or commercial), “sounds” get extracted out of the “background noise”.

Effectively, this field offers a distinct vision of the Service’s mission while substantially contributing to our operational and analytical agility, not only through supporting our specific activity of gathering and analyzing information, but also through countering the risks related to their origin and validity.
