SRI's Bomb Squad checked and diffused items suspected of containing improvised explosive devices, as part of a tactical exercise

On September 19, 2018, Alba Iulia hosted the Romanian Intelligence Service's counter-terrorism pyrotechnic exercise to test joint reaction to a threat involving improvised explosive devices, under the action procedures of institutions within the National System for Preventing and Countering Terrorism.
The three-tier tactics exercise focused on relevant bomb squad training for operations involving bomb threats or suspect packages.
The exercise scenarios mentioned as source fake 112 calls and the blueprint also tested interoperability among participants and technical and communication means, as well.
The drill, attended by Alba County Police Inspectorate, Alba County Gendarmerie Inspectorate "Avram Iancu", Alba County Emergency Situations Inspectorate "Unirea", Alba Iulia Local Police and Special Telecommunication Service, ended with a mock crisis held in a military firing range, in the presence of local authorities from Alba Iulia City Hall, Alba County Council and Alba Prefecture.
