SRI Organizes Cydex18 - The Largest Cyber Security Exercise in Romania
08 October 2018
The most important cyber security exercise in Romania, CyDEx18 will take place at the Snagov Palace, Bucharest, during October 8-10, 2018. The event will be attended by over 90 academic, private and public entities, gathering over 300 cybersecurity experts. CyDex18 is organized by the Romanian Intelligence Service through the National Cyberint Center, in partnership with the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Special Telecommunications Service, Guard and Protection Service, National Registry Office for Classified Information, Romanian National Computer Security Incident Response Team, and with the support of the Politehnic University of Bucharest.
The main objective is that of exercising defense capacities in the field of cybersecurity, and the rapid response mechanisms in case of threats to the IT&C critical infrastructure relevant for national security. It is also important to test technical knowledge of experts within participating entities when it comes to responding to a major, nationwide cybersecurity incident.
CyDex18 is the only hands-on national exercise, a feature that makes it highly complex and realistic. Complex simulations will take place on a cybersecurity training range specially created and personalized for this particular exercise by SRI experts within the National Cyberint Center.
Unlike the previous 2017 edition, this year's edition approaches several highly realistic scenarios developed by both public and private entities: SRI, MoD, CeRT-Ro, UNICREDIT, and ENEVO GROUP. These scenarios will prod players to discover and analyze highly complex malware applications, and to investigate several types of simulated attacks.
