SRI at Cyber Coalition, the 12th edition of the NATO-led exercise
December 10, 2019

During December 02-06, 2019, over 1000 experts from 28 countries took part at the 12th edition of Cyber Coalition, the main cyber security exercise conducted by NATO. The Romanian Intelligence Service, represented by Cyberint National Center, was part of the exercise planning team for the seventh year in a row.

The participants joined efforts to identify and manage the complex threats provided in the military exercise scenario in order to protect the Alliance cyber space.

Cyberint National Center developed the main technical scenario, designing and providing the participants with 40 unclassified virtual networks specific to NATO missions. Within this framework, the SRI experts simulated some advanced cyber threats that had targeted the alteration and availability of the players' data.

Therefore, the expertise of Cyberint National Center in the field of cyber attack detection and investigation could be used to design a realistic scenario, able to test how participant states reacted and collaborated under critical circumstances.

Romania is one of the most important contributors to the development of this exercise, a paramount cooperation tool that prompts an increase in NATO's cyber space defense capabilities.
