Press release
11 August 2018
In response to media requests regarding the latest protests that took place in Romania, the Romanian Intelligence Service wishes to make the following clarifications:
Today, August 11, the Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, Mr. Eduard Hellvig, had a phone conversation with Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă.
During this conversation, the Director of the Service reminded the Prime Minister that all the data and information gathered by the Service had been promptly delivered to the relevant structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including to the General Directorate for Operational Management in which the Service has a representative.
The Romanian Intelligence Service firmly criticizes any attempts to associate the institution with any political disputes, organization of protests or other conspiracy theories aimed at misinforming the public with regard to the Service's place and role within Romania's security architecture.
