Regarding the public speculations referring to a presumed implication of the Romanian Intelligence Service in nominating the Romanian prime-minister, SRI would like to state the following:

„We firmly reject any attempt to involve SRI in political disputes, in nominating the Romanian prime-minister or in other actions which are not related to the missions the Service has taken on in accordance with the legal framework. We view these public statements as denigratory and intended to harm the image of the fundamental institutions of a democratic regime.

SRI reaffirms its determination to remain equidistant, politically uninvolved and focused on fulfilling its missions while strictly observing the law.”
