Mr. Eduard Hellvig, Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) on a working visit to the United States

Recently, Mr. Eduard Hellvig and members of the SRI management team paid a working visit to Brussels and to the United States.

The SRI management took part to high level meetings with American intelligence officials such as Ms. Avril Haines, Director of the National Intelligence, Mr. William J. Burns, CIA Director, and Mr. Christopher Wray, FBI Director. There was also organized a meeting with Ms. Robin Dunnigan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central and Eastern Europe in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

Highlights of the agenda include matters of topical interest regarding regional and global security, with a focus on the importance of information exchange and cooperation in the field of intelligence.

Moreover, the meetings provided the setting for an analysis of the security situation in the region and of the joint capabilities that could be used to increase the level of resilience when confronted to constant threats to the national security of both Romania and the US.

Both parties reaffirmed their strong commitment to continue and develop the excellent cooperation between their intelligence services and to strengthen the solid partnership that brings together our institutions and our nations.

The Romanian and the American delegations reaffirmed their strong engagement to counter the risk factors leading to the current security challenges to the two states, to the regional and global security.
