Cyber security exercise - CyDEx17

Between May 15 and 17, 2017, SRI, through Cyberint National Center, in partnership with Ministry of defence, Ministry of interior, Ministry of foreign affairs, Special Telecommunications Service, Protection and Guard Service, Foreign Intelligence Service, National Registry Office for Classified Information and CERT-RO, is organizing the first edition CyDEx17, the national live exercise of cyber-security.

The exercise is organized according to the Cyber security strategy of Romania, approved by GO 271/2013.

CyDEx17 will be held at the cyber polygon of the Cyberint National Center, created and especially equipped to this purpose by Cyberint specialists. Its main targets are to practice and assess cyber incidents management methods and operational, tactical and strategic response in order to ensure a level of security similar to the cyber infrastructure level, and also to optimize institutional cooperation in order to identify and decrease the impact of such incidents

The exercise will raise awareness about the training level of responsible institutions involved in the circumstances of an event which will hit the national cyberspace and also about the need to consolidate the private-public partnership in this field. 

The participants coming from 60 institutions from the public and private sector will test and develop response methods to cyber incidents, will share information on this subject, in a rapid and efficient manner, by coordinating their own defense capabilities.

CyDEx17 will allow:

• Alignment to the Cyber security strategy of Romania
• Verification and stimulation of cooperation mechanisms between public institutions responsible for cyber security
• Verification and stimulation of cooperation mechanisms between public institutions  and private institutions in cyber security field
• Development of an efficient cyber incidents/attacks alert and response mechanism.

According to SRI’s national security responsibilities, Cybertint National Center takes all necessary actions to identify, prevent and counter vulnerabilities, risks and threats to the national security of Romania in terms of cyber security. 

Its main mission consists in identifying and providing the legal beneficiaries with data and intelligence needed to prevent, restrict and/or stop the consequences of any aggression on the IT&C systems, which are considered critical infrastructure.
