Director Eduard Hellvig meeting with the heads of the DNI and the CIA

Over the past few days, the director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, mister Eduard Hellvig, together with SRI first deputy director, general Răzvan Ionescu, made a working visit to the United States of America.

The SRI director and first deputy director had a series of meetings with American intelligence officials – Ms. Avril Haines, Director of the US Intelligence Community, as well as William J. Burns, director of the CIA.

The main topics on the agenda were the regional and global security in the current context, as well as the dynamics of the operative situation.

During the talks, several topics were emphasized, such as the importance of cooperation and intelligence sharing between the SRI and the US intelligence agencies, the results obtained and the manner in which the strategic partnership in the analyzed fields shall be continued.

At the end of the meetings, both the SRI leadership and the heads of the US intelligence structures reiterated their firm commitment to continue working together in order to prevent and counter the aggressions threatening national and regional security, including those with global impact.
